Slipping Rib Syndrome can be an incredibly debilitating disorder that often goes unnoticed.
Although Slipping Rib Syndrome was identified by a British orthopedic surgeon in 1919, it remains a relatively obscure condition in the medical field as a result of the delay in diagnosis of slipping rib syndrome in many patients.
A recent study shows that delay in diagnosis and treatment has an overpowering effect on slipping rib syndrome and mental health.
One-third of patients with adult slipping rib syndrome had suicidal ideations due to ongoing debilitating chronic pain, as well as an increased possibility of SRS patients with a psychiatric diagnosis, including depression.
Studies estimate that Slipping Rib Syndrome accounts for approximately 5% of all musculoskeletal pain in primary care. Slipping rib syndrome may be more common than previously documented.
